The Online Assessment
The online assessment is the first coding gate at Goldman, and it is the friendliest surface in the loop to prepare for, because it repeats. It runs on HackerRank, roughly two problems in about 90 to 120 minutes, in the easy to easy-medium band. At the campus and Analyst level candidates report finishing well inside the clock, some with a full score, so this screen sits below the big-tech bar rather than above it. The work is recognizing the shape fast and typing a clean, correct function that passes every hidden case on the first submit. This one repays study.
What makes this screen its own lesson is the flavor. Alongside the usual array and string work sits a distinct seam of math and number theory that the classic interview lists barely touch. Summing a value as a sum of primes, computing a Fibonacci term by formula, taking a number apart digit by digit. If you only drill the standard data-structure canon you walk in ready for the live rounds and blind to half of the assessment. This lesson covers the math seam directly, because that is the part a FAANG prep plan misses.
