Market-Making & Trading Games
When people trade stories about interviewing here, this is the round they retell. An interviewer picks something nobody in the room knows the value of. You quote a price you would both buy and sell at. Then they trade against you and watch what you do next. It is not a puzzle you solve and put down. It is a live negotiation with a scoreboard, and it is the closest thing in any interview to sitting on a Jane Street desk for five minutes.
First, the honest gate. This round belongs to the trading and research loop, Quantitative Trader and Quantitative Researcher, alongside the probability work and the timed arithmetic sprint. The firm is direct that it does not put its software engineers through mental math, olympiad problems, or logic puzzles. So if your loop is Software Engineering or Trade-Desk Operations, you can read this for interest but you will not sit it. Everyone else should treat it as the center of gravity of the whole day. Confirm your track with your recruiter before you decide how much of your prep to spend here.
