The CodeSignal OA
Okta's online assessment runs on CodeSignal, and it does not look like a generic FAANG screen. The tasks are practical and security-flavored: parse a log file and flag an abusive client, build a small bot-detection routine, validate and normalize IP addresses. The algorithms underneath are ordinary. The test is whether you can read a precise operational spec, implement it end to end, and get the boring edge cases right. Those are the details that matter when the code is guarding an identity platform.
Treat this lesson as the shape of the round, not a fixed roster. The assessment rotates its problem set. By candidate reports the format itself is not stable. Most sit a timed test of roughly 70 to 90 minutes with about four easy-to-medium questions. Some are handed a single larger problem of around two hours, occasionally with a multi-day window and their own IDE. A live variant of about an hour, run with an interviewer watching, also shows up. Whatever the wrapper, the flavor of the questions is consistent, and the two builds below are representative of what candidates draw most.
- 2 problems, worked step by step
- about 30 min
