Design Permission-Scoped Search
This lands in the 60-minute design round as a Jira or Confluence search prompt, and it starts deceptively small. Build an inverted index over issues, match the query terms, rank by relevance, return a page. That is a solved problem, and if that were all they wanted it would be a typeahead exercise. The interviewer's real target is the sentence hiding in "allowed to see." A tenant can have ten million issues spread across thousands of projects with fine-grained, constantly-changing access rules, and a search result that shows someone a single issue they should not see is a data leak. So this is not a search problem with a permission feature bolted on. It is a permission problem that happens to need search-grade latency. Lead with that.
