Dynamic Programming
Dynamic programming is the smallest of the coding families on the Cloudflare loop, and the coding overview places it and the greedy packing problems together at the tail of the mix. It still shows up, usually once, as a way to check that you can build a recurrence from scratch rather than to test any Cloudflare-specific trick. The problems are canonical mediums: a fewest-coins count, a cheapest path through a grid, and the occasional greedy packing task that looks like DP until you notice a single sort solves it. None of these needs an exotic algorithm. What they need is a state you can say in a sentence and code that runs.
That plainness sets DP apart from the rest of this section. Cloudflare runs a global network of data centers, the edge, that sits between visitors and the sites they load. Most of the coding rounds borrow their shape from things that network operates. A rate limiter is a keyed counter over a time window. An expiring cache is a hash map with per-entry timeouts. A hit counter is a ring buffer. Dynamic programming has no such product hook, so when it appears it appears bare. That is a relief rather than a warning: you will not be decoding a contrived edge metaphor bolted onto a recurrence.
