Negotiation Playbook

A SoFi offer lands in three parts, and all three carry weight. There is a base salary. There is a grant of restricted stock, the RSUs, quoted as a single dollar figure or an annualized one. And there is a cash bonus that, unlike the model at Amazon and a few other large shops, is present at every level rather than replaced by a front-loaded sign-on. SoFi Technologies is public, listed on Nasdaq as SOFI, so the stock in that grant is real. A vested unit is a share you can sell at the day's price, with no strike and no wait for some future exit. Read the offer as base plus a liquid grant plus a target bonus, then ask which of the three moves.

The SoFi angle
The biggest lever in a SoFi negotiation is the level you land at. The ladder runs Software Engineer 1, Software Engineer 2, Senior, then Staff. The step from Software Engineer 2 into Senior is the widest gap on the board, roughly $85K a year on the public medians. No base bump or bonus tweak comes near that. One report on Blind describes a candidate who was down-leveled at offer and declined without pushing back. Avoid that. A low level anchors every number for as long as you stay, so if the offer reads a rung low for your scope, fight that first.
