InterviewLegend is a reading product. It needs very little about you, so it collects very little. This page says exactly what.
What we collect
Your email address, because an account needs one. If you sign in with Google or GitHub we receive your email address and basic profile details from them, nothing more.
Your progress — which lessons you have marked complete and which you read last. This is what makes your progress follow you to a second device.
Your subscription status — the plan you are on, whether it is active, and when the current period ends, so we know what to unlock.
We do not receive or store your card number. Payment details go straight to Stripe and never touch our servers.
What we do not do
We do not sell your data, and we do not share your account details or anything you write on the site with advertisers. There is no data broker in this picture. We do measure how the site is used and which of our ads lead to a purchase; the next two sections say exactly how.
How we measure the site
Google Analytics counts page views and a few site events (for example, viewing pricing or starting checkout) so we can see which pages help people and where they leave.
Microsoft Clarity records how pages are used (clicks, scrolling and mouse movement) as anonymised session replays and heatmaps. Clarity masks text you type and the text on the page by default, so recordings do not capture what you enter.
When you arrive from one of our Google ads, Google Ads measures whether that visit led to a purchase, through the link between Google Ads and Google Analytics. To understand which pages and campaigns lead to purchases, we also keep a note of the page you first arrived on, the site that referred you, and any campaign tags in that link, and we attach that note to your payment record.
The Reddit Pixel tells Reddit when a page is visited and when someone starts checkout, creates an account or buys, with the purchase amount, so we can see whether our Reddit ads lead to purchases. We do not send it your name, email address or anything you write on the site.
Who processes it
A few companies, each doing one job: Supabase hosts the database and handles sign-in, Stripe processes payments and holds the billing relationship, Google (Analytics and Ads), Microsoft (Clarity) and Reddit (the pixel) measure how the site is used and which ads work, and our hosting provider serves the site. Each of them has its own privacy policy, and each only receives what it needs to do its part.
Cookies and local storage
A session cookie keeps you signed in. Two first-party cookies (il_ft and il_lt) hold the page you arrived on, the referring site and any campaign tags, so a purchase can be matched to the page that led to it. When you arrive from one of our Google or Reddit ads, a third cookie (il_pt, kept for 30 days) holds the ad's campaign tags and the ad network's click ID, so we can tell whether the ads pay for themselves. Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity set their own cookies to count visits and tie a session together.
To show prices in rupees to visitors in India, the server looks up which country your IP address belongs to in a local copy of a public database (IP Geolocation by DB-IP, CC BY 4.0). The address is not sent anywhere for this, and only the answer is kept, in a cookie (il_region, 6 hours) so the next page does not have to ask again.
Your browser's local storage also holds a copy of your lesson progress and the list of lessons you visited most recently, so the site works quickly and keeps working if you are signed out or offline. That copy stays on your device. Clearing your browser data clears it.
How long we keep it
Account data stays while the account exists. Ask us to delete the account and we remove your profile and progress. Stripe keeps payment records independently, because tax and accounting law requires it, and we cannot delete those on request.
Your rights
Wherever you live, you can ask what we hold on you, ask for a copy, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email contact@interviewlegend.com and we will action it. If you are in the UK, EU or California you have these rights by statute; we apply the same process to everyone regardless.
Children
The service is for people preparing for professional software engineering interviews and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect their data.
Changes and contact
If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it, and we will email account holders about anything significant. Questions or requests go to contact@interviewlegend.com, or via the contact page.
